My name is Elisa Caffey and I am 24 years old. I’m at UCF as a Senior majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in ESOL World Languages Education. For the past 6 years I have worked and taught in Seminole County as a Child Care Provider in multiple brick and mortar elementary schools. When the opportunity was presented to intern at Nemours Children’s Hospital this semester, I applied and got accepted into the program. My experiences teaching and working with these beautiful children at the hospital has really confirmed my purpose in teaching. The kids at Nemours has taught me so much about myself, and what I am capable of challenging myself to do. Ultimately, I have grown so much because of this opportunity teaching in a hospital setting, and learned so much on how to be flexible in different situations. Something that I will definitely take into my future teaching practices. I have also been blessed to work extended hours at this hospital every week as a Resident Intern, teaching and visiting many children and families. I am thankful for being one of the first UCF Interns to experience this internship opportunity; and looking forward to seeing this foundation of Peds Academy grow more into future semesters!
