Dr. Grysko earned her Ph.D. in Reading Education from UCF in 2019. She received her undergraduate degree in Family and Child Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education from Montclair State University in 2011, and her Master of Education degree in Reading Education from Saint Leo University in 2014. She is a certified reading and elementary teacher with five years of teaching experience at the K-5 level in Orange County Public Schools, Florida. She now teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in reading/literacy education and supervises teacher candidates as part of her work with UCF.
Dr. Grysko’s research focuses on the use of language and literacy practices to support students’ disciplinary learning, specifically in the discipline of science. Her work has been published in top-tier academic journals in the field of literacy education such as The Reading Teacher. She also regularly presents her research at international, national, and state conferences.
